Why templates cost more than bespoke — eventually.

The first quote for a website is rarely the last. A template solves the problem of getting online, but it doesn't solve the problem of running a business online. Those two things drift apart quickly.
The pattern is consistent: a founder starts with a template, adds three plugins to make it behave, hires a freelancer to unpick the plugins six months later, then commissions a bespoke build eighteen months in. The bespoke build is the one that should have happened first.
Bespoke isn't about vanity. It's about matching what the site does to what the business actually does — the enquiry flow, the way clients pay, the way projects are handed over. Templates optimise for the average business. There isn't one.
If you can articulate what your site needs to do in a paragraph, a considered bespoke build usually pays for itself before the second renewal.
